Banana Bread

Banana bread is sweet, cake-like bread that is delicious and fun to make. You can serve hot banana bread in as little as an hour from start to finish. Recipes can easily be double or tripled so you can enjoy your efforts for days. Banana bread is great as a dish made plain, and served with a little melted butter, but it can also include wonderful other ingredients such as fresh and dried berry’s and fruits, chocolate, raisins, coconut, and nuts. Loaves and slices can be topped with icings or glazes for further gourmet effect.

Baking banana bread requires a regular 9-inch x 5-inch, and no special equipment. Banana bread is baked from a thick batter, rather than dough, often using baking soda instead of yeast as a leavening, or rising agent. Quick breads in general use flour and eggs as their structural ingredients, and sugar and extra ingredients such as ripe bananas as filler or decoration. With very little effort you can have a loaf or two of banana bread in ten or fifteen minutes.
